Better Skin, Thanks Shakeology...

There are so many products out on the market now that claim to improve the condition of your skin.  It's hard to wade through all of the useless stuff and find an effective remedy. But the best solutions are not lotions, they are nutrient rich foods that you can find in the grocery store.

Avocados that would nourish the skin with essential oils, cherries help fight skin damage and wrinkles, flaxseed oil hydrates skin, and there are many others help improve beauty from the inside out.

Instead of buying all of these foods there is a delicious and ultra-convenient alternative with more beauty benefits than I could have wished for.

I did a bit of digging to find out which ingredients in Beachbody’s own Shakeology health shake have real beauty benefits.

Here are some of the beauty-boosting ingredients in Shakeology:

Biotin: for healthy hair and skin.

Amaranth (sprouted): has shown promise in the prevention of premature graying of the hair.

Bilberry fruit powder: a strong antioxidant and an excellent free radical scavenger. Helps combat the cell damage that leads to premature aging and disease.

Goji berries: one of the most antioxidant-rich fruits; helps prevent premature aging of skin; contains heavy doses of vitamin C and also linoleic acid, which help to promote collagen growth and keep your skin looking plump and youthful.

Grape seed extract: a natural anti-inflammatory shown to improve elasticity of the skin.

Iodine (as kelp): wonderful for nail growth and healthy hair.

Pantothenic acid: known to reduce toxins and assist with clearing acne.

Vitamin E: protects and helps to repair skin.

So many women who drink Shakeology have noticed their own beauty benefits.

"Irene D. of Gilford, New Hampshire, mentioned she noticed a reduction in the
brown blotches on her neck and décolleté. Also, her hair has become shiny
and soft with less breakage since drinking Shakeology."

"Tami F. from Maine said she loves that her fingernails now grow like crazy
and her hair grows like weeds."

"Jass O. said her nails finally aren’t weak like they used to be."

I couldn’t imagine traveling across the world to find these ingredients. It’s hard enough for me to find time to schlep to the local market. Thankfully, I can dash down to the kitchen at work to get my daily Shakeology fix.

If you’d like, you can order yours HERE and have it delivered right to your door.

5 Things You Should Know BEFORE Becoming a Beachbody Coach!

So you are looking into this whole “COACHING” thing?

Here are 5 things you need to know before making the BEST decision for YOUR life!

#1 - Coaching is NOT a “Get Rich Quick Scheme”

If your number one priority is making bukoo bucks... You might as well save your $39.95 (sign up cost) and keep looking for the right opportunity for you... Because coaching will be a big fat waste of your time... NOT because you cannot end up making BIG MONEY... because you DEFINITELY CAN... but because in THIS business, the only people who make money are the ones who actually care to make a difference and help people change the course of their lives! Your income will ALWAYS be a direct reflection of the number of lives you help change!

#2 - You have to “BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN ... YOUR BUSINESS!”

You’ve probably wondered, what the heck do you actually DO as a coach, just SELL stuff? Absolutely not! It’s SO much more than that! As coaches we are BEACONS of light. (okay, slightly dramatic... but it’s TRUE!!!) We use our life, and the way we live it, to inspire and encourage others. What happens when you see a friend that you haven’t seen in a few months... and they have lost 20lbs, are beaming with energy and a whole new outlook on life? Well, I know what I DO... I ask them, “What the heck have you been doing girl!? You look INCREDIBLE!!! I want your secret!” -- That’s the best way I can explain the basis of coaching. YOU are that person who, in this story, committed to changing their lives for the better... and thus EVERYONE around you wants to know YOUR SECRET. Mine, well, it’s BEACHBODY! TurboFire first changed my life after having my after my 3rd child, then again after having my 4th child ... then came Shakeology that literally was a health GAME CHANGER for me!!! And NOW, COACHING ... which has taken me from a bored stay at home mom to BADASS MOM CEO with zero business experience... I'm working my way to making six figures a year too! WHY? Because I focused on changing ME first... Then shared my “secrets” with others who followed suit!

#3 - Coaches are Independent Business Owners.

When you become a coach you don’t the work for BEACHBODY... You work for YOURSELF! No one gives you deadlines, tells you how much you have to work, when you have to work, WHERE you have to work, nor do they decide your salary... YOU DO! And yea, I KNOW... SOUNDS INCREDIBLE, right? *and it IS*... IF you are willing to learn to manage your time effectively, stay consistent, be self-motivated and most of all, self-disciplined. MOST of us have never worked for ourselves... We have had all of our tasks and responsibilities laid out for us, a BOSS to hold us accountable and scare us from losing our job if we didn’t stay on point, a pre-determined salary or hourly rate GUARANTEED to us (even if it wasn’t great... we at least knew exactly what we would make.) and business hours (good ole 9-5!). The BEST comparison I can give you to describe the difference between working for someone else and working for yourself is the difference between HIGH SCHOOL and COLLEGE. Everyone HAS to go to High School... there is set rules, schedules, learning materials, teachers, subjects, tests, etc... But college... College is for the ELITE, the ones who want MORE out of life! The ones who are willing to take responsibility and make something of themselves. No one calls your mom when you skip class... tells you what to wear, which major to pick, nor which class times you will choose. If you drop out... Well, that’s on YOU. Owning your own business is the SAME WAY... So are you ready to Graduate to the BIG LEAGUES?

#4 - Perceived PERFECTION = NO CONNECTION

Your success as a coach is directly linked to how CONNECTED others feel to you. So many times when I talk to people who are trying to decide whether or not they are going to become a coach... They mention “not being at their goal body yet”  as one of their reasons they doubt they would succeed. TRUTH IS... People don’t connect to PERFECTION... They connect to your STORY. The struggles you overcome on your JOURNEY... and the honesty and openness you are willing to share with them. THOSE are the things that inspire them to change! You want them to think, “Well, if SHE can.... So can I!”... NOT “Well, she is perfect... so, of course she succeeded!” Until I opened up and shared my story of losing myself after my 4th pregnancy... and barely scrapping by paycheck to paycheck.... Only THEN did they start to see I was human, just like THEM... with struggles, hold backs and experiences that I could have let hold me down. Question is: Are you willing to let down your guard and share?

#5 BIG DREAMERS make BIG DOERS!

ALL successful coaches have ONE THING in common... They started with BIG DREAMS that fueled their fire to succeed! You have to have a CLEAR vision for YOUR LIFE and know what you are working for! Just like college... You go through the learning process (not making money) all the while KNOWING it will be WORTH IT in the end when you graduate and land the career of your dreams. Only difference here is that college could put you THOUSANDS of dollars in DEBT with no guarantee of a job... when in Beachbody you can actually MAKE MONEY while learning the ins and outs of your trade. IMAGINE if you spent FOUR FOCUSED YEARS, the way people do in college, on BEACHBODY!!! You would likely be earning more than most DOCTORS by the time you “graduated” with no debt to speak of! My point is... You have to know where you want to go... and more importantly WHY! The more defined your WHY... the HIGHER you FLY!

I hope this gave you a better idea of whether or not coaching is right for you and your goals, it is truly not meant for everyone... but when it lands in the lap of the person described above... MAGIC HAPPENS and DREAMS COME TRUE!

When and If you are ready to take the next step... I would love to lock arms with you and be your Coaching “professor” of sorts to show you why I love this business so very much and why I think you just may too! When you become a coach on my team... Your dreams become MY dreams... and THIS dreamer is most certainly a DOER!

Let’s make it count!

Healthy Crock Pot Chili...

Winter is here and in full effect.
I don't know about you all but cold weather and my crockpot go hand in hand, especially with some homemade chili cooking in it. I feel like chili is a more of a cold weather dish, but I make it all year because it’s SO easy and so healthy!
Especially this one.
I just throw all these ingredients in the crock pot and let it be.
Not to mention, it’s full of flavor and I feel good about eating it. Lots of protein and fiber!
The two star ingredients I use in this recipe are fire-roasted tomatoes and smoked paprika.
These are two ingredients that I ALWAYS have in my pantry. I use fire roasted tomatoes as a base in all kinds of veggie soups, and smoked paprika is a staple spice I keep on hand to make anything smoky flavored (and it’s great in “cheesy” sauces)!
What I like most about this recipe is that you basically cannot mess it up! Don’t have mixed veggies? No prob, pick and choose which veggies you want to add! Same goes for the mushrooms and bell peppers, you can always replace it with another type of veggie that you prefer. Why not throw some leafy greens in the crock pot too?

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Bell Peppers chopped
  • 1/2 Sweet Onion chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic chopped
  • 1 Cup Mushrooms chopped
  • 2 Cups Frozen Mixed Veggies
  • 1 Cup Cup Frozen Okra optional
  • 3, 15 ounce cans of Beans pre-cooked
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Jar Marinara Sauce
  • 1, 16 Ounce Can Chopped Fire Roasted Tomatoes
  • 1 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Cumin

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place all ingredients in the crock pot.
  2. Cook on low (6 hours)

They are also a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium and contain boron! Add some Superfood Shakeology to that and OMGAWD!

Have you heard of the mineral BORON?? Boron is a mineral that helps maintain calcium balance and promotes bone health. Some research suggests that boron may play a role in preventing osteoporosis, a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break.

Girl Bosses: We all know them. We all love them...

Girl Bosses: We all know them. We all love them. We all secretly (and not-so-secretly) want to be them.

It’s a way of life for some, and for others, it’s a baller hashtag to use after crushing a day at the office. With a millennial culture geared towards encouraging women to reach higher and push harder, the "dream" of becoming a girl boss is now more attainable than ever.
Having started my own business from home, let me tell you—I read the books. I dreamed the dream. I went from a stay at home mom with no direction to becoming the girl boss I hoped I would one day to be. And along the way, I’ve discovered a thing or two about entrepreneurship.

1. If you build it, they may not come. And that’s totally cool.

When starting your own business, a launch can go one of two ways: You build it and everyone comes running, or you build it and wonder if everyone got lost. My business comes with new products launches, and I can specifically recall a launch where I felt like I was standing out in my own field of dreams, waiting for the DJ to turn on the mic because my customers must not have heard me! I loved my products!!!
I worked endless hours. Everything on my end was perfect. But then the panic of making my first big mistake as a business owner instantly set in, and I questioned all of my choices.
Little did I know, these moments are actually the most valuable if you want to be a boss babe. Those moments provide the time to take a step back and reflect on why you’re not an overnight success. Maybe your product is perfect for a niche audience, but your marketing channels aren't reaching the right people. Maybe you’re priced too high compared to your competition. Maybe you need to demonstrate the value of customers choosing you over the big guys.
Every story is different, but behind every shortcoming there is a lesson to be learned. The key is to push aside that bruised ego, identify what you can do better, and keep going. Because it really is totally cool to fail if it pushes you to grow.

2. Don’t compare your hustle to their highlight reel.

This is a quote from the true girl boss herself, Sophia Amuroso, founder of Nasty Gal and author of the book (you guessed it) "#Girlboss." If you ask me, truer words have not been spoken. While there are so many upsides to social media, it can also be a constant source of comparison when it comes to building a business. Connecting with your ideal customer at the right time, in the right place, and in the right way can be a game of trial and error when first starting a company. In an Instagram and Pinterest-run world, we all want images that reflect the beauty of what we’re selling, what we’re doing, and who we are. But beautiful images don’t just happen.
That picture of a bright, magazine-worthy office space you see on Instagram? I’m willing to bet that outside of the frame are papers strewn about, coffee cups stacked on coffee cups, and a worker bee more consumed with next month’s finances than with desk perfection. That confetti-blowing post by your favorite company celebrating their 100,000th sale? Beyond figuring out how to get confetti to flutter beautifully on video (which should be an article in and of itself), there was a time where they were figuring out how to make it to their 10th sale.
You will get there. You will have highlights in the form of glorious days when your business is rocking, and your social media feeds are perfectly groomed to make it look like it was a breeze. And you will have days filled with so much hustle, so much chaos, so much imperfection, that you will wonder if it’s all worth it. Spoiler alert: it is. But be wary of comparing the two—It’s the hustle that makes the highlights that much sweeter.

3. It’s OK to be vulnerable about your journey.

Ever been to a party where you feel like all you’re being asked is, “How’s [insert new thing in your life] going?” and your initial reaction is to talk about its fabulousness when in reality it has been downright hard?Welcome to life as a girl boss.

It can be really tough to open up about your business journey when you’re constantly putting on a front. Find people you trust—a business mentor, a friend, a valued colleague in your field—and don’t be afraid to share your paint points. Those will be the people that will not only give you tangible feedback, but will inspire you to take a new approach as well.

4. Say HELL YES to your “yes” crew.

It will likely come as no surprise that when you’re an entrepreneur you’ll have to get used to hearing the word "no." People will use it repeatedly and in ways you didn’t know existed. These will be the days when doubt creeps in. These will be the days that make you wonder why you told yourself you could. But these will also be the days that you can go back to those who supported you in the first place.
Call your parents and get a fresh dose of why you’re the best thing since your older sister. Talk to your bestie who believed in you before you believed in yourself. Ask your old boss to pull up your annual review, and take note of all of those qualities listed in the "strengths" section. Identify that "yes" crew and hold onto them tight. They are your cheerleaders. They find joy in watching you shine. They will empower you and help you see value in your leadership, even when you can’t see it yourself.

5. The struggle is, and will always be, real.

Walking into entrepreneurship, I admittedly had blinders on. I knew the start would be tough and that it would take a little time to develop a growth strategy that would consistently elevate my business. But I had assumed that once I got there—once I reached the mecca of what I considered to be success—the waters would become a little smoother. And in some regard, this is true; The more you learn, the more confidence you have in making tough business decisions. But every business, whether it’s a start up or a success story, is always tackling that next hurdle.
Before starting your business, establish your success markers—these can be anything from financial goals to product offerings to followers on social media. Move from one challenge to the next and take the time to celebrate those victories, while knowing that with each success comes a new challenge and a new thing you may have no idea how to do.
Don’t let these struggles daunt you, because you’ve been there before, and because you’re doing things right, you’ll be there again. Take that newfound confidence and jump in, just as you did before. The very definition of being your own boss is having the ability to motivate yourself. You can get there, and you will. I’m certain of it. You’ll be the boss who did it when no one thought you could. You’ll be the one we all look to with that “how does she do it?” awe. But girl, you better work.

What lessons have you learned as a girl boss? Let us know in the comments below!

The Girl Squad Rules...

I don’t know about you, but my close female friends are some of the most important people in my life. With them I can share my secrets; my doubts; talk about my man; laugh at silly things and diss about my annoyances. They will encourage me, boost me and let me know when I’m kidding myself.

Inside those friendships is a place where I make myself vulnerable – a place where the bullet proof face I show to the outside world wouldn’t withstand a high velocity marshmallow.
It may be a stereotype but it’s real. Studies have found that women bond through shared intimacy and conversation. There are also health benefits to strong female friendships. They help us cope with stress betterrecover from illness and may explain why we live longer than men.
Female friends are there for each other. We protect our female relationships fiercely because these are so important to us. The girl that breaks the rules of the relationship, for she will pay for the betrayal. The inner bitch will strike out. We may even lose the relationship and all the positives that go with it. Now that is stressful.

Ooooh, here comes my twinge of internal conflict again. I don’t even want to imagine that would happen. Oh, what if I broke those rules? Geez, I’d feel sick.
Wait a second. How would I know if I broke these rules? What are they?
The answer is quite complex. We’ll cover this subject over the coming posts. But, here’s one important over-riding rule.
Keep Your Account In Credit
Have you had the experience where some small thing has happened with a female friend or colleague and a voice in your head says ‘just wait a minute, this doesn’t seem fair’ ?
Well according to some fancy pant Dr this is our internal relationship balance calculator. The little voice which pops up when we sense that the balance has gone into debit.
Women build relationships by earning credits with each other. In order to maintain our relationships in credit, we subconsciously monitor the balance.
No credits –no relationship – it’s as simple as that
What relationship rules do you think apply to your female friendships?

Kick Fears Ass...

Think of all of those beautiful dreams of yours. The big, hot shiny ones. The ones that are so big and amazing that you’d fall over if they came true. Spend too much time there and what inevitably happens?
What If starts creeping in. What if this happens or doesn’t happen or how can I possibly or how would that ever work?
What If goes by another name: FEAR. And it has a wicked choke hold in its arsenal of moves. Sparring with fear gets ugly in a hurry. But it doesn’t have to. Get out your journal because you’re about to kick fear’s ass in three simple steps.
Grab your journal and make three columns
At the top of the page, and above the columns, name your fear. As an example we’ll use the word Failure, and old friend of yours truly’s. No sense in going in softly. This is fear we’re talking about and if I’m going to show you how to throw the ol’ 1-2 punch, we’re going to use a formidable opponent. Failure is just the contender we’ve been looking for.
In column one, write down the worst that could happen. All the implications of this failure, the chain reactions, the gossip at the hair salon. You know, the juicy stuff.
In column two, write down the answer to this question: What is one thing that I need to know right now, something I don’t already know, that will help me let go of this fear? With failure as an example, you might write anything in this line from not knowing what to expect when I get there to not knowing how to handle the back lash if I let people down.
Now you have something tangible to work with instead of this wild amorphous emotion.
Go to column three and write down what you can do right now to find the answers for column 2. It doesn’t have to be a comprehensive five year plan. A few words about where you’d start will do just fine. Perhaps you just need to ask a few more questions about what you’re walking into. Maybe you need to ask someone to go with you to an event for support. It’s your fear – your list.

Fear represents all the areas of your life where you don’t have enough information

Now that you know what you’re really looking for, focus on that. It will shift your mind set into problem solving mode where you have way more control over the outcome. Instead of your brain swirling on problems you may never encounter, and could not fix if you did, put your mental energy into what you can do.
If you need more information, write down where you think you can get it. If you need more time, write down who you think can help you. So on and so forth. By pinpointing what you’ll need to succeed you can formulate a game plan.
On the odd chance that one of those What Ifs comes to fruition, there will be someone in your life who’s better equipped to handle it and who you can delegate to. There is no problem out there that you can’t hire out for a solution. Remember, the world wants to help you. People want to volunteer to make a difference. That means in your life too. Trust the process.

Go make your columns and kick fear in the ass. It’s easier than you think.
